Coaching Description

In Germany’s Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) industry, a portfolio is not about showcasing everything you have done — it’s about showing the right projects, the right way, to the right audience.

German hiring managers and technical leads use portfolios to evaluate competence, decision-making ability, clarity of thinking, and professional maturity. Many international AEC professionals have strong work but fail to communicate their individual contribution, technical reasoning, and impact clearly enough.

This 1-on-1 portfolio coaching is designed for AEC students and professionals who want their portfolio to become a strong decision-making tool — not just a collection of images or drawings.

You work directly with an expert who has reviewed portfolios from both a technical and hiring perspective in the German AEC market. Together, we analyse how your portfolio is currently perceived, identify what weakens its impact, and optimise it step by step — aligned with your role, your experience, and your target job positions.

Every recommendation is tailored to you. The goal is not to create a “beautiful” portfolio — but a clear, convincing, recruiter-ready portfolio that supports your CV and cover letter.

Coaching Process

The coaching process will be tailored fully to your needs and timeline. Here is an example of a coaching agenda:

1. Pre-coaching portfolio audit by your coach
   First, you will need to send us your current CV and your portfolio (link). The coach will conduct a detailed, personalised review of your portfolio, including structured feedback on project selection, clarity, content gaps, text quality, and overall presentation.
2. First 1:1 coaching session
   Here, we do a deep dive into suggested improvements: how to present projects professionally (textually and graphically), explain technical decisions, highlight impact, and meet German AEC expectations. If you requested a German portfolio translation, then the coach will be providing all the translated text. Note: We are not able to adjust your portfolio on your behalf. However, we provide the most detailed explanations and text suggestions that you can use right away. 
3. Independent optimisation phase
   You apply the changes yourself with full clarity and confidence, understanding how to adapt your portfolio for different roles.
4. Portfolio check by your coach
   A portfolio review will be conducted by your coach to verify that all changes are applied correctly and that your portfolio is fully optimised.
5. Second 1:1 coaching session (optional)
   This is an optional session to address improvements that need to be made based on the portfolio review by your coach. If there are not many changes to be made, this step can be covered by an email, but if there are things that should be discussed live, then this session will be used for that.
6. Receive your detailed corrections instructions + a Bonus PDF Guide
   You will be sent your correction instructions and what to keep in mind for future adjustments in PDF format. If you requested a German translation of your portfolio text, then you will be sent this in MS Word and in PDF format. Additionally, you will receive a valuable Bonus PDF Portfolio Guide. 
   
7. Any follow-up questions? 
   You can contact your coach via email for up to 6 months after the coaching to clear any questions regarding your portfolio.
